As the reinvention of all those heritage brands in Paris heats up, Nicolas Ghesquiere proved he’s already been there and mastered that territory. Showing the fine art of purveying the best of the archives with modern ambition, the S/S 2013 was “the most sensual collection I’ve ever done” said the designer, backstage pre-show. A mix of innovative fabrications was here in dense embellished tweed and delicate lace overlayed with synthetics, but even more compelling was the sex appeal paired with this craftsmanship. Molded bra tops and crisp cape crop tops exposed the midriff, while playful hems and sharp, thigh skimming ruffles proved to sweeten up the provocative tone.
