Balenciaga Pre Fall 2014/15 Collection

A year into his residency at French fashion house Balenciaga, Alexander Wang delivered what critics have called his most bold collection to date. On the heels of Paris Fashion Week, Wang’s pre -fall 2014-15 collection proved that his signature fusion of classical and modern aesthetic wasn’t slowing down any time soon.

A young, short and unsurprisingly sporty collection – Wang merged the classical voluminous shapes that founder Christobal Balencaiga was known for with his signature urban sporty design.

Teal, black, white and grey painted the exquisite fabrics featured. All of which were punctuated with unexpected details such as grid like outlines, winged details and polyurethane panels (typically on snowboarder parkas) weaved onto sophisticated suits.

Luxe pullovers and crepe cocktail dresses were paired up with pony hair lace up boots, cocoon silhouettes and structured tailoring. Contrasting textures and digital effects kept the collection fresh, with pixellated waists on a cropped jumper keeping Wang in the hotspot.

A strong collection accompanied by a glass cased foliage floor and projected images, Wang closed the show with a flourish by producing a sleek black dress dedicated to Cristobal and the continuation of his iconic creations.
