Architect’s Playground: Groundbreaking Hotels in Chilean Patagonia

AP

A new wave of groundbreaking hotels have found a home in one of South America’s most breathtaking natural landscapes, the wild southern limits of the Patagonia region in Chile! With low-slung structures, and utilitarian aesthetics, the hotels are luxurious and comfortable, but are also physical examples of some of the world’s most progressive trends in contemporary architecture. The architects are also overly careful to ensure that the integration of the hotels into the natural landscape is visually and environmentally seamless with an end goal to, “achieve an architectural humility.” As architect, Cazú Zegers designer of one of the most lovely examples, Tierra Patagonia says, “the building should come out of the ground and go back into it.”
