Digital landscape photographer Andreas Gursky is on view right now and until January 13th at Museum Kunstpalast, in Düsseldorf, Germany. It’s a unique occasion to discover his amazing work, if you haven’t already seen his work up close. Showcasing both older and new works of the famous artist, the exhibition gives a chance to understand his deep and refined research through architecture, landscape, cities, infrastructures and large-scale events attended by huge crowds.

Some of the photos presented in the show are created starting from satellite images and complexly layered landscapes, bordering on the surreal. This process is usual for him: “It is not pure photography, what I do,” Gursky describes his own work. “All my works are based on a direct visual experience from which I develop a pictorial idea, and after that, there’s a studio testing to prove their plausibility, and finally they’re worked out with the help of a computer.”
