Aldo Bakker Invites to Press ‘Pause’ [Lausanne]

Dutch self-taught designer Aldo Bakker presents currently a retrospective of his artifacts at Mudac – ‘Musée de design et d’arts appliqués contemporains’. A selection of unique pieces and some of limited editions in collaboration with designers like Karakter, Georg Jensen, Puiforcat and Swarovski amongst others are part of the beautiful lineup.

Oak stool twisting like a wave and other crawling objects, the deceptive simplicity of this pictogram pieces house signs of animal presence. Between mysterious sculpture, goldsmithery and design, they are often made of single matter like glaze, glass, wood or copper. The quality of his works reside in the relentless form seeking and his ability to tickle our perception of ordinary things.

The exhibition, which has been wholly realized by Aldo Bakker and his team, invites to slow down and redraw the notion of extraordinary, not through eccentricity but through delicacy and absolute accurateness of execution.
