I was really attracted to New York based artist Aaron Wexler’s collage work from first glance. Wexler’s work mixes painting with cut & paste techniques to result in beautifully abstracted pieces of work, which in my eyes would be really successful when translated to textile as well. This is what he had to say about the collaging aspect of his work, “Layers are built up but are done so in order to subtract from the overall image and

create voids in the landscape of the imagery. The uniqueness to my process adapts a traditional ‘cut and paste’ approach but also carries seamlessness equally redolent of digitized media.”
