This cutting-edge installation brought to life by the brilliant minds of Per Emanuelsson & Bastian Bischoff will have all clocks create one giant display, showcasing customizable texts, patterns, graphics and of course, tell time! Stockholm based studio Humans since 1982 will present their kinetic work “A million times” at Design Days Dubai / Victor Hunt Gallery from 18. – 21. March 2013.

A 3,44 meter long kinetic clock installation based on almost 300 interconnected analogue clocks, each synchronized to drive the minute and hour-hand independently to create beautifully choreographed movements is set to enthrall visitors at Design Days Dubai 2013.

‘A million times’, a graphically conceptual, mechanical and engineered based design project frees clocks from their solely pragmatic existence, relating the digital and alphanumerical type font possibilities of the typical analog clock when combined in groups of 24.

A technological marvel, it is impressive at first sight, with a mechanic choreography taking place every 60 seconds that is truly fascinating. All clocks revolve hypnotically with each passing minute, before settling down to display the updated time.

‘’With its two arms rotating around the center a clock always dances in slow motion. Shaping out this hidden quality without denying a clocks primary purpose was our goal’’ tell Per and Bastian. The dance of the needles and the message they convey can be controlled through a customized software on the iPad.
