Trendland got dressed with Class Actress‘ Elizabeth Harper before her LA show at the El Rey Theater the other night. Before her opening set for Miami Horror, the classic beauty brought us backstage where we helped her with accessory choices, and in turn, she shared a little bit about herself. Overbearing sounds of the stage [...]
Fairy meets warrior in Antonio Berardi’s S/S 2012 collection. Beautifully crafted sequencing over soft flowing silks pointed loud and clear to the armour reference Berardi mentioned. It was nothing we had not seen in the past but craftsmanship of this nature always deserves to be highlighted.
Richard Nicoll’s S/S 2012 collection was feminine with a futuristic kick. Layers of silk were punctuated with hooped hems giving it that extraterrestrial touch that set his looks apart from all the other silky full length looks we have seen for S/S 2012.
Sexy contours paired with oceanic inspired prints set Peter Pilotto’s S/S 2012 collection off this season. The body conscious silhouettes used construction details that paralleled wetsuits. It felt futuristic and tech but contemporary at the same time. Loved the prints!
Roksanda Ilincic went full throttle sporty-chic for her S/S 2012 collection. Ofcourse that dichotomy almost always suggests great use of color/blocking on relatively simple silhouettes, and that is just what we saw in this collection. She did mention that for this collection one of her major devotions was modernizing old school craftsmanship and silhouettes.
There is no denying that Mary Katrantzou is one of the most dynamic new conceptions to the fashion world. It was clear to us when we featured her back in 2008 for her graduating collection that this talent was here to stay. Season after season she has continued her avant-garde exploration of textile development to [...]
Oh so 60′s! I felt like I traveled back in time to the 60′s as the models strutted down the runway with their long hippie locks paletted in Holly Fulton’s highlighter looks. Holly Fulton has become one of my most anticipated shows for London Fashion Week. Her reoccurring signature Art Deco prints have made me yearn [...]
Mathew Williamson’s S/S 2012 presented his usual ultra feminine silky printed looks but those were not the hero pieces for me. I fell really partial to the more embellished looks, which have always been his strength as well. The intricacy of the cut-out pattern paired with feather details made those dresses real showpieces. The concept [...]

While the good people at Scottish techno label SOMA Records were digging through their archives, preparing for Daft Punk’s 20th Anniversary Retrospective, they came across a never-before heard track called Drive. Found in the form of an unassuming DAT labeled “Daft Drive”, dated 1994, the track is classic Daft—a bombardment of of drums, sythns, and [...]
A deluxe toy. Audi has created this electric-powered and half-scale recreation of an Auto Union Type C, grand prix racer of the late 1930s. Audi will be showing the “Auto Union Type C e-tron study” with electric drive at the 62nd International Toy Fair in Nuremberg.
Despite her more experimental construction techniques and unconventional use of organza Ann-Sofie Back’s S/S 2012 retained a sophisticated simplicity that easy to absorb. The collection was all very wearable. In some of the looks she took what seemed to be very simple patterns and used shoe string belts to gather or create closures that gave [...]
